The Clap Generator synthesises handclap sounds entirely in the browser using the Web Audio API. No samples, no plugins — white noise is shaped into rapid stacked bursts that mimic multiple hands hitting slightly out of sync, followed by a filtered decay tail. A bandpass and highpass combination gives the characteristic midrange slap, waveshaper drive adds density, and a brightness control shapes the final tone. Tweak five parameters across two groups, preview instantly, and export a one-shot WAV.
Character — Tone shifts the centre frequency of the bandpass filter from a dark, muffled thud to a bright, cutting slap. Spread controls the number and spacing of micro-hits — at zero the clap is a single tight strike, at maximum it fans out into a loose flam of six layered bursts with diminishing gaps for a natural acceleration feel. Shape — Decay sets the length of the noise tail after the hits — from a dry snap to a reverb-like wash. Drive pushes the signal through a waveshaper for grit and harmonic density. Brightness is a lowpass tone control — roll it back for lo-fi warmth or open it up for full sizzle.
